- Decide what you want.
- Keep track of your progress.
- Post motivating pictures or slogans on your fridge or else w
here. - Remind yourself why you want this and focus on the end result.
- Make it a habit.
It’s hard to motivate yourself when you don’t have a goal or objective. Set a goal and decide how you are going to go about it. Then break it down into smaller sections so it’s easier to tackle and less overwhelming. You MUST know what your Why is, and What you are Willing to do to get it. Make a decision to chase your dream whatever that dream may be.
Keep a log or journal where you chart your progress. It can motivate you by gauging how far you have come and how much you have accomplished. Looking at it can also motivate you to keep pushing ahead. Sometimes it is best to chart out your progress 3 month frames. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t reach your goals.
It is always inspiring to see pictures of people who have accomplished what you’re going for. It makes it attainable and realistic. Likewise, little slogans like “go for it” or “just do it” can give you the little boost you need. Read inspiring or motivational quotes. Read good self help books that others have used to lead them right to success, then take good quotes from those books and use them for the motivation you will need to fuel your fire.
If you remind yourself that you want to be healthier, go for that promotion or just better yourself, it will re-establish why you are doing what you’re doing. It’s not unusual to hit a slump, but don’t allow yourself to stay in that slump or it will stop you from getting anything done at all. Sometimes we forget what we set out to do and a little reminder is all we need to be revitalized.
- Once you have accomplished your goal or objective make it a habit. If it was to exercise or eat properly, keep it up. If you make habits then we keep doing them automatically, and those habits can be either good ones or bad ones. So focus on the good (positive) things you are trying to achieve and make it a habit. If it was to work for a promotion or any other one-time event, maintain the habit of self-improvement. Once it becomes a habit, it’s second nature to you and you don’t have to think about it anymore. The good habits is what keeps us pushing forward and leads us right to the level of success that we dream of.
